WESTPORT — A Norwalk man was arrested and charged with reckless driving and disobeying an officer after he was caught allegedly speeding down the Sherwood Island Connector at nearly 100 miles per hour.

An officer attempted to stop a car on the Sherwood Island Connector around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 28 after radar detected the vehicle traveling at 96 miles per hour, police said. After the officer attempted to stop his car, Christopher Anderson turned off all his car’s lights, failed to slow for a stop sign and turned onto Interstate 95, nearly running a vehicle off the road and nearly crashing into several other cars as he drove recklessly onto the highway, according to police.

The officer stopped the 56-year-old Norwalk resident on the highway heading north and arrested him. Anderson was charged with reckless driving and disobeying the signal of an officer. His bond was set at $500 ahead of a March 9 court date.
