WESTPORT — A Milford contractor allegedly stole a high-end coat, boots and sunglasses from a Woodway Lane home where he was hired to work.

Jeffrey Chirillo, a Milford man working at the home as a contractor, had been left alone at the residence multiple times before items were discovered missing Jan. 1, according to police.

Westport officers arrested the 36-year-old in February regarding a separate investigation into contractor fraud, police said. He allegedly admitted the Woodway Lane thefts, and detectives found boots, a jacket and sunglasses that had gone missing in his Meadows End Road home in Milford.

Bridgeport Police took Chirillo into custody March 26 and Westport Police charged him with third-degree larceny and unregistered home improvement. He was held on a $25,000 bond ahead of an April 4 court date.
