Westport's annual Memorial Day parade steps off at 9 a.m. Monday at Saugatuck Elementary School on Riverside Avenue

The parade route runs north to Route 1 and heads east over the Post Road bridge, turns left onto Myrtle Avenue and passes a review stand in front of Town Hall. The parade will turn left on Main Street and end in Parker-Harding Plaza.

Following the parade, First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and Leonard Everett Fisher, the grand marshal, will give brief speeches on Veterans Memorial Green.

The program also will include an invocation by the Rev. Edward Horne of United Methodist Church.

Maggie Miller and Molly Liles of Brownie Troop 5048 will lead the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the national anthem, performed by Staples High School soloist Grace McDavid Seidner, and "America the Beautiful" will be performed by Staples student Tyler Jent.

A wreath will be placed before the Doughboy statue on the green, followed by Taps performed by Staples band buglers Adam Miking and Devon Lowman.

"God Bless America" will be performed by Staples soloist Amelia Green. The benediction will be given by Horne.

In the event the parade is canceled, Memorial Day services will be held in the Town Hall auditorium starting at 10 a.m.
