The Masonic Temple Lodge 65 of Westport has financed $3,000 worth of equipment for the town's Emergency Medical Services bike team, EMS has announced.

The Masons gift was used to purchase two bicycles outfitted with medical bags, emergency lights and sirens. The two-wheel unit allows EMS personnel to respond rapidly at large-crowd events.

The unit has been deployed at events such as the town's 4th of July fireworks, Slice of Saugatuck festival and several road races and triathlons.

"We are extremely grateful to have the generous support of the Westport Masons," Michael Salvatore, bike team coordinator and paramedic, said in a news release.
