Westport will join the national Make a Difference Day effort for the 18th year on Saturday, Oct. 26. To participate, volunteers visit the local website www.westport-makeadifday.org and choose a project or create their own. There are currently close to 30 projects listed and more will be added.

Volunteers can also come to the Senior Center, 21 Imperial Ave., at 10 a.m. on Oct. 26 to help with drop-in projects.

Westport Make Difference also is helping with local collection sites. Kings Highway Elementary School, 125 Post Road West, is collecting used or new Halloween costumes; St. Luke's Church, 84 Long Lots Road, is collecting supplies for kids: glue sticks, crayons and reams of paper; and Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., is collecting new socks for the homeless.
