Westport Public Library will hold a performance by the music group Heart and Soul at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

The band is comprised of Fran Southworth, Tony Cruz, Sharon Bryant, Jeff Southworth and Chris Coogan, all of whom have played together for many years, according to a release. They will play music from the 1920s to present day.

Fran Southworth, a Westport singer-songwriter, was an actress and singer on the TV show "As The World Turns" for two years in the 1980s, and wrote more than 40 songs for television shows. Her work also includes television and radio commercials, among them, a performance for Whitney Houston's AT&T campaign.

Jeff Southworth, a performer, singer-songwriter and composer, has played guitar with the duo Hall & Oates, as well as with Laura Branigan, Graham Nash, and Dan Hartman, the release states.

His television and radio work includes writing, arranging, and producing for Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Wynonna Judd, Ray Charles, Aaron Neville and Leann Rimes.

Bryant was the lead singer in the recording group Atlantic Starr before moving on to a solo career that includes hit song and video "Let Go" and hit songs "Journey Song" and "Foolish Heart." She also sang with Sting at Carnegie Hall along with James Taylor, Gladys Knight, Tom Jones and others, the release states.

Coogan is a pianist and jazz and gospel musician whose credits include music director for jazz guitarist Sal Salvador.

Cruz, a percussionist, has performed with many musicians over the years, including Bruce Springsteen as well as with the Boston Pops Orchestra and on Broadway shows.
