WESTPORT — Author Helen Macdonald will discuss her best-selling book, “H is for Hawk,” next Wednesday at the Westport Library.

The writer will discuss the book, is a finalist for this year’s National Book Critic Circle Award, at 7 p.m. in the library’s McManus Room. The program is co-sponsored by Earthplace, and one of the nature center’s resident hawks will be brought to the presentation.

Macdonald recounts in the book how, as an experienced falconer, she decided to tackle the challenge of training a predatory goshawk as a means to cope with her grief over the sudden death of her father. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing by the author.
