Westport Public Library will hold a talk by Assistant Library Director Bill Derry on TED.com 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

TED.com is a website with free lectures on a wide variety of topics from some of the world's experts in various fields. The organization, whose name stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, was founded in 1984. It runs conferences for innovative people who are given only 18 minutes to present their ideas that can be viewed at TED.com.

Derry, a longtime information techology professional for the Westport school system, was instrumental in running the Westport Library's first TEDx conference this past summer, which featured three Staples students.
