The Westport Public Library recently announced the arrival of e-book lending through a new program called Freading.

Through the program, thousands of books in all genres at the library can now be read on a computer, smartphone or compatible e-reader. according to a news release from the library.

Westport is one of a handful of communities in the country to test this new service, which differs from others in that books are available to people simultaneously without waits or fees, the release states.

The library will hold a drawing for two new iPad2s donated by Freading's founder Saturday, March 3. All Westport cardholders who are at least 18 years old may enter by watching a short video tutorial on Freading and submitting a form online.
