The Westport Historical Society, its officers and directors extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make its recent Christmas House Tour and after-party at Terrain of Westport such a wonderful success.

This year's holiday tour, which sought to capture the spirit of "a classic New England Christmas," set new attendance records.

The society is grateful to Mar Jennings, honorary chair of the event, for his vision and leadership; the residents who opened their homes to visitors; Terrain, for providing a festive setting, and event planner Kathy Winter and her committee, which shepherded this important project from its inception to end.

We also want to extend our sincere thanks to the patrons who bought tickets for the tour and party. Their generosity helps support our work to preserve Westport's history and offer educational programs to its residents.

"I'm so proud that our vision for a memorable event was realized," Mar said. "Now I'm ready to settle down (with my schnauzer) for my long winter's nap."

The success of this year's tour was extraordinary. It's important for us to create a buzz every year, and this year's emphasis on Christmas decor, and inviting our local lifestyle guru Mar Jennings to chair the event attracted many new people.

I'm grateful to the more than 400 people who supported us by attending a heart-warming tradition. I'm proud and honored to be part of this organization, which preserves what is special while cherishing the talent of our volunteers, who truly make us shine.

Support from the corporate community is invaluable to our success, and we're grateful for the following businesses that sponsored this event: BNY Mellon Wealth Management; Berchem, Moses & Devlin P.C.; Sachs Walsh Insurance; Weichert Capital Properties and Estates; Maplewood Senior Living; The Sheffer Foundation; Brown Monument Works; Resnick Investment Advisors LLC; the Law Offices of George P. Judd LLC; Cohen & Wolf P.C.; Harding Funeral Home; and Venture Photography.

We're also very grateful to Terrain of Westport for hosting our post-tour party and to Moffly Media's Westport Magazine for being our media sponsor. Beverage donations from Stew Leonard's, MH USA and Bahama Bob's Enterprises are gratefully acknowledged.

Winter added, "I would personally like to thank our amazing committee of talented, hardworking volunteers. They made the Christmas House Tour and gala at Terrain the success it was. A huge thank-you to our committee: Joan Beers, Angela Capone, Stacey Danielson, Jay Dirnberger, Edward Gerber, Kristan Peters-Hamlin, Pat Kery, Sue Kirby, Sarah Krasne, Michaela MacColl, Betsy Pollak, Nancy Sherter, Amy Swanson, Cate Tiefenthaler, Lawrence Untermeyer, Amy van Arsdale, Susan Wynkoop

"Working with Terrain was any event planner's dream," she said, "and not just because of the beauty of the venue. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating."

And a very merry Christmas to Donna and Phil Craft, Rebecca Ellsley, Angela and Mark Graham, Natasha and Marx Bowens and Mar Jennings whose beautifully decorated homes were the stars of the tour.

Thank you all.
