The Westport Arts Center will host a "WACky Family Day" offering families the chance to engage in a range of toy-inspired art projects on Sunday, March 10. The event, which will include local teaching artists leading interactive art workshops, will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, 51 Riverside Ave.

Participants are encouraged to bring travel postcards and photos to be incorporated into their projects.

The program will also feature an awards ceremony for the winners of the center's 2013 Toy Makers II design competition rating more than 136 student toy designs, ranging from pinball machines to mechanical robots.

Jurors Melissa and Doug Bernstein, founders of toy maker Melissa & Doug, chose the submissions and will present first, second, and third prizes for age groups of 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.

Families of all ages are invited to attend the event; younger kids may play in a play zone, provided by event sponsor Melissa & Doug.

Admission is $10 for children, free for adults and children 2 and under.

Advance registration is encouraged; ticket sales at the door will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
