Halloween art making including the creation of canvas trick-or-treat bags, sculptural spiders inspired by artist Louise Bourgeois, sugar skull costume masks, and haunted birdhouses is planned at the Westport Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 20. Local teaching artists will facilitate four interactive art stations and help families create fun and spooky Halloween art projects at the workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants are invited to come in costume.
"I'm especially looking forward to the haunted birdhouses as it connects with our current members' exhibition `Home Sweet Home," said Sarah Kelly, education assistant.
Program sponsor Melissa & Doug toy company will provide a "Kids Zone" for younger children.
Admission is $10 per child. Adults and children under two are admitted free. Advanced registration is highly recommended. To register or for more information, call 203-222-7070 or visit www.westportartscenter.org Ticket sales at the door will be on a first-come first-served basis.
