Field hockey beats Bethel

The Weston field hockey team got its first win of the year Monday with a 2-1 home win over Bethel.

Julia Armijo scored from Hannah Goodman in the first half and Goodman scored in overtime from Ana Babinec. Anna Mahony made nine saves for the Lady Trojans. Tess Fagan, Maggie McCusker and Julia Rogers also played well for the Lady Trojans.

Weston dropped to 1-5 with a 2-0 loss at Joel Barlow Wednesday. Mahony made 13 saves against Barlow.

Girls soccer wins

The Weston girls soccer team raised its record to 3-3 with a 4-0 home win over Stratford Tuesday. Grace Mattison scored three goals for Weston and Whitney Farber netted the other goal. Hailey Singer had two assists and Alexa Werner and Stephanie Thomson each had an assist. Maggie Maretz and Allison Gluck combined to make three saves for the Lady Trojans.

Boys soccer wins

The Weston boys soccer team won 4-1 at Stratford Tuesday and raised its record to 3-2-1.

Jared Weisman scored two goals for Weston and Bryan Lonergan and Josh Karpen each netted a goal. Christian Amaden made two saves for the Trojans.

Weston outshot Stratford, 13-3 and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Volleyball wins

The Weston girls volleyball team won 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-9) at New Milford Tuesday.

Weston raised its record to 2-5. Savannah Carpenter (13 kills, 10 digs, 7 aces), Lili Clement (13 kills, 6 digs) and Jessy Gersch (25 assists, 7 digs) led the Lady Trojans.

Cross country goes 2-3

The Weston boys cross-country team lost 23-36 to New Milford but defeated Bethel, 17-45, and Notre Dame of Fairfield, 15-49, Tuesday.

Weston is now 7-2. David Stankiewicz (17:40), Noah Krassin (17:46) and Matt Bolin (18:18) finished in the top 10 for the Trojans, placing third, fourth and seventh, respectively.
