WestConn women crush Wentworth

Amy Corchard got things rolling for the Colonials at the 13:09 mark of the first half when she connected on a pass from Angela Wozniak. Two minutes later, Catherine Nathans, of New Fairfield, scored her second goal of the season to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead. The score remained 2-0 for the remaining 30 minutes of the first half, but by the time the horn sounded to end the half WestConn had taken 31 shots to only one for the visitors from Wentworth.

WestConn continued to dominate play in the second half, but for the first 20 minutes were unable to find the net. At the 63:18 mark of the second half, Lauren Matthews blasted in a rebound off a missed shot by Angela Wozniak to stretch WestConn's lead to 3-0. Nicole Sieber, of Newtown, Jennifer Duran, and Domonique Pascascio also found the net in the second half to make the Colonials' final margin of victory 6-0.

For the game, WestConn took a total of 58 shots, 28 shots on goal, while Wentworth only managed to take three shots, one shot on goal. The Colonials also held a 17-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Shannon Cawley was rarely tested in goal for the Colonials, finishing with one save and earning her third win of the season. Katherine Matthews was heroic in goal, making 22 saves.
