William R. Bleakley, 48, of Wilton, died on April 22, 2010.

Born in Islip, N.Y., son of the late Roger and Ferrol (Miller) Bleakley, he had been a longtime area resident.

He was a member of the Cross Country Team at Wilton High School and later at St. Luke's, where he received numerous awards for setting new course and school records. Bleakey went on to attend Eastern University.

A longtime proprietor of The Westport Academy of Tae Kwon Do, he achieved the rank of 5th Dan training under Grand Master Moo Yong Lee. He was inducted into the Martial Arts "Hall of Fame" and named outstanding Sah Bum Nim of the Year in 1998. He received Merit of Honor in 1999 in the United States Tae Kwon Do Instructors' Union and received a certificate of recognition for outstanding contributions to Tae Kwon Do in Olympic Year 2000.

Bleakley was currently employed by Gartner Inc. in the information technology department.

Survivors include his two sons, Liam and Connor Bleakley; his fiancé, Eva Fontaine; and her two sons, Devon and Christian Fontaine.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, May 8, at 1 p.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road E., Westport, with the Rev. John H. Branson III officiating. There will be no calling hours.
