Music for Youth will present 20-year-old violinist Benjamin Beilman for its next free Young Persons' Concert 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport.

Beilman has won top prizes at international music competitions in recent years, including first prize at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and five awards for debuts in New York, Washington and Boston, according to a release from the organization. He also won first prize in the 2010 Montreal International Competition, which awarded him a $30,000 purse, $20,000 in career development services and a recording on the Analekta label, the release states.

He also garnered first prize in the 2009 Schmidbauer and Corpus Christi Competitions in Texas and Astral Artists awarded him first prize in their 2009 International Auditions. As a result of his success in Montreal, he has been engaged for a concert in France with Radio France and for performances with the Edmonton Symphony, the Bach Montreal Festival, the I Musici de Montreal, the Festival du Quebec and L'Orchestre de Montreal, the release states.

He is touring with "Musicians from Marlboro" for the current season and has been heard on NPR's "Performance Today" and "From the Top." He studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Ida Kavafian.
