A new, urgent-care medical center has opened on Post Road East, offering walk-in treatment without appointment seven days a week.

Westport Urgent Care opened Monday at 1045 Post Road East with a staff of eight, including three physicians, a release from the practice said.

In a news release, the practice billed itself as an alternative to hospital emergency rooms for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, with shorter waiting times for treatment.

The 3,000-square-foot medical center said it offers treatment for common ailments such as cuts, abrasions and lacerations; fractures, strains, sprains and bruises; burns; colds, flu and digestive disorders; asthma and allergic reactions.

It also provides school, sport and annual physicals; drug screens; vaccinations and occupational medicine, according to the release.

Westport Urgent Care said it accepts all major insurance, including Medicare and workers' compensation.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
