Weston Road was closed to traffic this morning as firefighters extinguished a fire that erupted in a pickup truck's engine compartment.

The compartment was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Police closed down the roadway in the area of Weston and Ford roads for about one-half hour while the fire was doused.

There were no injuries to the driver or firefighters, according to a report from Assistant Fire Chief Larry Conklin. The last Fire Department unit cleared the scene at 12:14 p.m.
