Trio charged with drug possession in Danbury
Police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Sokpheap Nhek, 24, of Danbury, at 5 p.m. as he approached the intersection of New and Spring streets. The vehicle was missing a front license plate, police said.
The officer allegedly spotted a small amount of marijuana in plain view near one of the passengers, Kenny Genao , 20, of Danbury. Genao was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which point an officer patted him down and allegedly found an unspecified amount of marijuana in his pants.
Officers found a scale commonly used to weigh drugs in the vehicle, which Genao said was his, police said.
Genao was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police also charged Shawn LeBlanc , 21, of Danbury, with possession of narcotics and illegal storage of narcotics. Officers said LeBlanc had several Percocet pills in his possession.
Nhek was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly told police a second scale found in the vehicle was his.
All three are due in Superior Court in Danbury later this month.
