Three vehicles -- one towing a large sailboat trailer -- were heavily damaged in a crash on Interstate 95 in Westport early Friday, but firefighters said only one person suffered minor injuries.

The collision took place about 1:15 a.m. Friday on I-95 southbound between Exits 18 and 17, firefighters said.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, the damaged vehicles and trailer were on the right side of the highway and one of the drivers was complaining of minor injuries. The injured driver was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS for further treatment.

Two of the damaged vehicles and the trailer had to be towed from the scene, but one of the cars was able to be driven away.

About five gallons of gasoline spilled on the highway and was absorbed by speedi-dri applied to the road surface by firefighters. A small amount of the gas also entered a storm drain, firefighters said.
