It's 2011, so what are your plans for the first full weekend of the new year? Here are a few suggestions for this weekend in Westport:
Learn about key financial concepts by playing "Profitopoly" at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road. Have some informed fun playing the game created by Steve Huff. To register, visit www.westportlibrary.org.
When you're done learning how to become a financial wizard, stay at the library and check out "Painting Westport: Watercolors by Matthew Levine." The exhibit is open during library hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday. For more information call 203-291-4800 or visit www.westportlibrary.org.
Let someone else tell the kids a story. Take them to Storytimes at Barnes & Noble, 1076 Post Road East, at 11 a.m. Saturday. More information can be found by calling 203-221-7955 or visiting www.barnesandnoble.com.
If the weather forecast is right, Westport and the rest of the region will be digging out Saturday from another significant snowfall. By evening, you may be inclined just to chill out and warm up with a glass of wine. The wine bar at V restaurant, 1460 Post Road East, is one option with its selection of 21 varieties available by the glass. For more information call 203-259-1160 or check http://www.vrestaurantandwinebar.com.
Round off the weekend with a family activity at the Westport Arts Center, 51 Riverside Ave., which at 2 p.m. is hosting a "WACky Family Day." The gallery will be divided into a series of art workshop stations for all manner of creative outlets. Admission is $10 per child and free for adults and children under 2 years old. Find more information at www.westportartscenter.org or by calling 203-222-7070.
