Before the relatives descend en masse for Thanksgiving, give a little thanks yourself for fun things to do this weekend in Westport:

Stop by the Westport-Weston Chamber office, 215 Main St, on Friday to pick up your decorating kit for the chamber's Gingerbread House Decorating Contest. There are three categories for entries and fees: youth/family, $25; adult, $50 and professional, $75. Finished houses will be on display at area businesses, where shoppers will vote on their favorites. Visit to register or for more information.

If you feel the need to do some early holiday shopping, swing by CraftWestport Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Staples High School, 70 North Ave. The two-day event, now in its 37th year, features 160 artists and craftspeople. Take in the Faculty Chamber Music Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church, 49 Weston Road. Sponsored by the Andre and Elaine Suan Foundation, admission is free. Visit for more information.
