Things to do in Westport this weekend
Independence Day is not until Wednesday, but that doesn't mean you have to put off fun until then. Here are a few suggestions on things to get the celebrations going in Westport this weekend:
Get a glimpse of "Past Exposures: Photography by MaryEllen Hentricks" opening Friday at the Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road. The exhibit is on display in the library's Great Hall. Visit www.westportlibrary.org or call 203-831-0065 for more information.
No need to batten down the hatches Friday when Otis & the Hurricanes take the stage at 10 p.m. at Oaxaca Kitchen, 376 Post Road East. Take in the band's mix of delta blues and New Orleans funk for free.
Get in the race to win $5,000 at the Great Duck Race on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the Saugatuck River at Parker Haring Plaza. Sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary, race raffle tickets are $20. Visit greatduckrace.org for more information.
Don't stamp your feet, stamp some paper and create unique greeting cards at Stampers Night Out at 7 p.m. Saturday at Joy2Crafts, 263 Riverside Ave. For more information, call 203-858-7099 or visit www.joy2crafts.com
It's okay to be distracted when Duchess Di and The Distractions take the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday in a free concert at the Levitt Pavilion on Jesup Road. There will be free dance lessons at 6:15 p.m. before the eight-piece band with a classic horn section takes the stage. Visit levittpavilion.com for more information.
