Weather over the next few days offers a mixed bag, but here's a mix of events that promises to brighten the weekend in Westport:

The "Art About Town" public arts celebration continues throughout the weekend -- and until June 17 -- all over downtown Westport. Browse more than 75 artworks, featuring a range of disciplines, at stores and public spaces in this annual display organized by the Downtown Merchants Association. Find a detailed list of the participating artists and merchants here:

Push it to the limit Saturday in a "Push Against Cancer" fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Fitness Factory, 1200 Post Road East. This -- no kidding -- "push-up-a-thon" will raise money to send children with cancer to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp this summer. Participation is open to the public, but a highlight is sure to be the push-up competition between teams from Westport's police and fire departments. It's the doggone-est event. On Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., Jesup Green will be the scene of lots of puppy love -- affection, in particular, for that hot-dog-shaped pooch: the dachshund. The annual "Dachshund Reunion" will benefit efforts to rescue Dachshunds and place them with adoptive owners. The event, next to the Westport Public Library, starts with a parade of Dachshunds adopted through rescue groups and shelters, and will include contests such as bobbing for hot dogs, best kisser, best tail-wagger, fastest dog and oldest dog.

This event has grown so much over nine years that it's too big for any single Westport site. So this year's Westport Youth Film Festival on Saturday will take over the Bijou Theater, and other nearby venues, on Fairfield Avenue in downtown Bridgeport. The festival, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., will showcase 75 films by teens from Westport -- and the world! -- as well as related workshops, labs, panel discussions and music. For more details, check

On Sunday, be amazed by Westport secrets -- private enclaves of natural and cultivated beauty will be revealed during the 21st annual "Hidden Gardens Tour" sponsored by the Westport Historical Society. The gardens tours will be bracketed by a Garden Marketplace on Veterans Green, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a variety of artisan crafts and garden-related products. And capping off the day will be the "Toast the Tour" after-party arranged by the historical society in an antique post-and-beam barn and featuring gourmet appetizers, auctions, wine tasting and music. For details or to buy tickets for the tour and/or party, contact the historical society at 203-222-1424 or
