Make it all about the arts -- more or less -- this weekend. There are plenty of events to choose from in Westport:
Friday night, take in the Westport Community Theatre's production of "A Picasso" by Jeffrey Hatcher. The show, at the theater in Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue, begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $18 and $20. For tickets and information, call 203-226-1983 or visit www.westportcommunitytheatre.com.
Start your Saturday by getting a jump on spring cleaning and clear your schedule for the rest of the weekend. Drop off unwanted clothes and furniture at the new Goodwill store, 1700 Post Road East, and enter to win the Goodwill April Spring Cleaning Sweeps. No purchase or donation is necessary and the grand prize is a $5,000 gift certificate at PC Richards electronics store. First prize is four tickets to Cirque de Soleil at the Webster Bank Arena and second prize is a $150 Goodwill gift card. Call 203-259-3943 or visit www.gwct.org for more information.
Now that you've made some room in your home, visit the "Mollie Gala Art Auction" on Saturday from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Westport Country Playhouse barn, 25 Powers Court. More than 100 pieces will be on the auction block in a fundraiser for the Westport Historical Society, honoring late arts supporter Mollie Donovan. Tickets are $60 in advance and $65 at the door. Visit www.westporthistory.org or call 203-222-1424.
If, like Tony Bennett you left your heart in San Francisco, don't miss "I Left My Heart ... A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett," on Saturday at the MTC Mainstage Studio Theatre, 246 Post Road East. There are two shows at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $25-$45. Call 203-454-3883 or visit www.musictheatreofct.com.
Wrap up the weekend at "Moving Poems," a Sunday workshop at the Dance Collective, 222 Post Road West, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Celebrating National Poetry Month, the workshop weaves together Gabrielle Roth's 5Rhythms dance practice with poetry.
