Step lively this weekend, as Mother Nature is expected to be in fine holiday form and the summer season unofficially gets under way. In Westport, for instance, you can take in some art, and learn about the town's agricultural roots, but make sure you get a good spot on Monday to cheer the marchers in the town's annual Memorial Day parade.

Learn about Westport's farming heritage at the Wesport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday as it kicks off the "Back to our Roots" project, focusing on agriculture in town, a recent barn survey and the story of Westport's stone walls. On Saturday, take a stroll through downtown shops and restaurants to view "Art About Town," a display of art work from 65 artists scattered through 50 locations. Take a tour of five private gardens in Westport and benefit the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport at the same time Satruday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 78 Cross Highway. Westport's annual Memorial Day parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Monday, starting at Saugatuck Elementary School and makes its way to Town Hall on Myrtle Avenue.
