The Music Theatre of Connecticut will conclude its 2013-14 season with "The Fantasticks" on Mainstage April 11 through May 4. "The Fantasticks" tells an allegorical story of two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. Premiering Off-Broadway in 1960, the production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical.

The Westport performance of "The Fantasticks" is directed by Music Theatre of Connecticut co-founder and Executive Artistic Director Kevin Connors and features a professional cast with many Broadway and regional credits.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with matinees Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., at Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage Studio Theatre, 246 Post Road East. Each performance is followed by a wine and cheese reception with the audience invited to meet the actors and production team.
