A 19-year-old Morningside Lane resident was charged Saturday on a drunken-driving warrant related to a motor vehicle accident that took place this past summer.

Harry Nicklinwas charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, traveling too fast for conditions, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

The accident took place June 1 on Morningside Drive North. Nicklin was treated at a hospital after being extricated from the damaged vehicle. His three passengers were uninjured, police said.

"Responding officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath," according to the police report. Nicklin later admitted to drinking beer prior to the accident, police said.

A warrant later revealed that his blood alcohol content was eight times the legal limit for his age -- 0.02 for persons under the age of 21 -- police said.

Nicklin was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct 22 in Norwalk Superior Court.
