Taste of Westport serves up benefit for CLASP Homes
WESTPORT — A celebration of Westport’s diverse menu of culinary offerings Thursday will “feed” the coffers of CLASP Homes of Westport.
The fund-raising event, featuring specialty dishes from two dozen area restaurants, starts at 6 p.m. in the Westport Inn, 1595 Post Road East. Also on offer will be a selection of wines and cocktails, as well as desserts.
Proceeds benefit CLASP, which provides “homes and opportunities for people with autism and other developmental disabilities,” according to the agency.
Some of the fare for sampling at Taste of Westport will include oysters from Hummock Island; culinary treats from restaurants like Pane e Bene, Matsu Sushi, Harvest, the Cottage, the new Bobby Q’s and more.
Cocktails and wine will be provided by Black Bear Wines & Spirits and Greens Farms Spirits.
Desserts from Le Rouge Chocolates and Cakes will also be available.
Music will be performed by Beto Petrillo and Rob Russo playing reggae selections from their soon-to-be-released album, “Running Out of Angels,” and Matt Criscuolo and Tony Purrone with jazz selections.
Silent auction items up for bidding will include a pair of tickets to a Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden; four tickets for a new production of “Camelot” at the Westport Country Playhouse; an overnight stay at Mohegan Sun Casino with a dinner for two at Michael Jordan’s Steak House; a triple strand of pearls and a tourmaline and diamond necklace, and a giant toy giraffe and a tiger from Melissa & Doug toys.
