Talk on citizen scientists, scientists working together at Westport Library
Published 4:31 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2012
Simmons will discuss some of the discoveries enabled through collaborations between scientists and citizen scientists using the Internet, from new planets around other stars to light echoes from dying supermassive black holes, a library news release states.
The primary research focus of Simmons, A PhD candidate, is the connection between the growth of supermassive black holes and their host galaxies.
The event, which is free, is the first of an annual science program made possible by the Anne Eyes Endowment. For information, call 203-291-4800 or visit westportlibrary.org.
