Runners took off during the second annual Create Footprints Run/Walk on Sunday, April 11, at Sherwood Island State Park. The goal of the event is to get all of Fairfield County involved in the fight against Lyme disease, the fastest growing infectious disease in America. It continues to affect Fairfield county residents by the thousands. Funds raised from the Run/Walk will support further outreach and awareness of the physical, emotional and social effects of Lyme disease. Westport resident and event-organizer Orna Grand was recognized during the event. Grand contracted Lyme disease in 2002 and is still dealing with the aftermath. Her experience has made her determined to raise awareness and funding to fight Lyme disease.
