A wanted man led Westport police on a chase early Wednesday, but was taken into custody after police used a Taser to subdue him in Weston.
Richard O'Dell, 42, who was wanted on a violation-of-parole charge, was spotted by an office parked in the lot off Merritt Parkway Exit 42 about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, police said. When officers approached O'Dell's car, he allegedly drove toward them, striking one of the officers.
O'Dell, whose address was not immediately available, then spend from the scene, and was pursued north into Weston. There, his vehicle became stuck in the rear yard of the house at 3 Logan Road. He fled from the car and ran through a wooded and swampy area. The lone officer pursuing O'Dell through the woods caught up with him and subdued him with a stun gun.
O'Dell, held on $250,000 bond, was charged with interfering with an officer, assault on a police officer, engaging in pursuit and disobeying a signal of officer. He also faces charges from Weston police.
The officer struck by O'Dell's car was not injured, police said.
