A support group to help grieving adults cope with the death of a parent is being offered this summer by Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County.
The free, eight-week program will meet Thursday evenings in Norwalk, beginning July 11 and concluding Aug. 29.
The sessions are planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Visiting Nurse offices in Suite 114 of the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park. I-Park is 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/Wilton town line.
Common reactions to the death of a parent include depression, anger, fear, loneliness and guilt, Visiting Nurse said in a news release. "While the death of a parent is an expected life cycle event, it is the loss of the most fundamental relationship in our lives and the effect can be profound," said the Rev. Marti Bishop, an interfaith minister and grief counselor with Visiting Nurse.
Although the program is free, pre-registration is required, Visiting Nurse said.
