Westport's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer two weekly support groups this summer to help people cope with the death of a spouse.

One group will meet Monday afternoons from 3 to 4:30 p.m., beginning July 16 and ending Sept. 10.

The other will meet Monday afternoons from 1 to 2:30 p.m., beginning July 23 and ending Sept. 17.

Participation is free, but registration is required.

The death of a spouse can cause a "profound sense of personal loss" and the sense that part of one's identity has been lost, the Rev. Karen Judd, an interfaith minister and grief counselor for Visiting Nurse, said in a news release.

"This bereavement support group will help participants gain a deeper understanding of their feelings of grief and begin the process of healing," she said.

Groups will meet at Visiting Nurse's offices at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park, 761 Main Ave. The offices are in Suite 114.
