Several Westport teachers will be featured on "Great Lesson Ideas," a new program on PBS's Teaching Channel.
The show, to be aired after Christmas, will show instructors teaching the subjects of math, science and English, according to Westport Public Schools.
The math teachers include Coleytown Middle School instructor Tanya Kaplan, Bedford Middle School teacher Kevin Cuccaro and Staples math teachers Jen Giudice and Trudy Denton. Science teachers featured in the program are Staples biology teacher Ally Krubski and Dan Cortright, a Bedford science teacher. English teachers include Staples instructors Kristin Veenema and Mary Elizabeth Fulco; Coleytown instructor Meagan Berkowitz; and Emily Cerone, a language arts teacher at Bedford.
Staples' math department was chosen to participate based on the independent recommendations of two educational consultants who cited its national reputation as a leader in math instruction, according to Frank Corbo, district mathematics chair for grades six through 12.
The lessons will be available to teachers nationally on a website.
