WESTPORT—The Staples boys swim team downed Fairfield Warde-Ludlowe 102-73 on Wednesday. The Wreckers set a new school record in the 400 freestyle relay as John McNab, Dashiell Hunter, Nico Orgeta and Sven Herrmann crossed the line in 3:43.94.

Staples won the majority of the events Wednesday as it prepares to tune up for the stretch run. Scott Adler, McNab, Austin Twiss and Ortega took first in the 200 medley relay, Hunter won the 200 freestyle (2:10.81), Ortega won the 200 IM (2:16.68) and McNab took first in the 50 freestyle (26.17).

Zach Cooper scored 299 points in diving as the visitors do not field a diving team.

Herrmann won the 100 butterfly in 108.11 while Twiss took top spot in the 100 freestyle (59.91) and 100 backstroke (109.84). Adler won the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:31.91. Jacob West won the 100 breaststroke in 112.84.

The win is the beginning of a busy stretch for the Wreckers, who are back in action Friday (Jan. 6) against Westhill-Stamford.
