The Staples High School football team's Get Your Pink On fundraiser netted $8,300 for Pink Aid, the Westport-based nonprofit that provides support services to uninsured and under-insured women diagnosed with breast cancer.

The money was raised through sales of pink T-shirts, hats and other apparel, plus a raffle and bake sale in conjunction with the team's fifth annual Get Your Pink On football game Oct. 2, Pink Aid reported in a news release.

Team captains and head coach Marce Petroccio presented the money to Pink Aid officials at a recent ceremony.

The nonprofit provides rides to and from treatments, baby sitting, grocery delivery, help navigating the health-care system, wigs, recovery garments and other services to under-served victims of breast cancer in the region, according to its website.

Staples athletic teams in the past four years have raised and donated $45,000 to Pink Aid, the organization said.
