The Staples High School classes of 1981 and 1982 recently gave $1,600 left over from their reunions to the Staples Tuition Grants Program.

The Class of 1981 celebrated its 30th reunion last year with a class reunion scholarship and plans on raising at least $2,000 for this year's mini-reunion, according to a news release.

Since 1943, the program's committee has given financial help to Staples seniors and graduates with demonstrated financial need who are furthering their education. Last year, the program awarded $314,000 to 111 Staples seniors and graduates, the release states.
