WESTPORT — A Stamford woman was charged with a DUI following a traffic stop in Westport on March 24.
Around 2 a.m., an officer watched a vehicle exit Interstate 95 onto the Sherwood Island Connector and turn right, heading toward Sherwood Island State Park, which was closed, police said. After the officer observed the driver reverse the car at a high rate of speed, the officer pulled over the vehicle.
In speaking with the driver, Andrea Loaiza, an officer smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage and asked Loaiza to exit the car and perform standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed, police said.
Loaiza, of Morgan St., was arrested and taken to headquarters where a breath test found her to be over the legal limit, police said.
She was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and released after posting a $500 bond. Loaiza is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court April 2.
