St. Paul congregation to celebrate Teske's 25-year service
A quarter-century of the Rev. Paul N.E. Teske's service as pastor of St. Paul Westport church will be celebrated at a service Sunday.
The silver anniversary service will take place at 10:15 a.m. in the church, 41 Easton Road.
Teske came to the local congregation after a 20-year career in the Navy, retiring as a commander in the Navy's Chaplain Corps. His career in the Navy included service at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital; a guided-missile cruiser based in Yokosuka, Japan; chaplain recruiter and liaison for the chief of chaplains, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London.
While Teske was preparing for service with a Marine desert warfare unit in Quantico, Va., in 1989, he accepted the ministry post at St. Paul's.
In Westport, Teske has served on area community boards, including the United Way of Fairfield County, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and Pivot Ministries of Norwalk.
He also oversees the St. Paul Christian School, a Fairfield County preschool and kindergarten with national accreditation.
"My wife, Rivers, and I are so very thankful to call Westport our home," Teske said in a statement issued by the church. "We have raised our three children in this wonderful community and they are now starting to raise their children here. While 25 years is something to pause over, as we continue to lead St. Paul Westport, I believe that the best is yet to come."
