`Spay Day' for cats Feb. 27 in Westport
"Spay Day" is a campaign promoted internationally by the Humane Society. Spaying and neutering are humane and effective means to reduce the number of cats euthanized in animal shelters each year, according to Connecticut Humane Society officials.
The "Spay Day" program will offer spay and neuter services to cats of eligible Connecticut residents for $20.11. To be eligible, a cat owner must show proof of participation in one of the following programs: SSI (Supplemental Security Income program), WIC (Women, Infants and Children program), TFA (Temporary Financial Assistance program), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program) or any other state financial-assistance program.
The local Connecticut Humane Society office is at 455 Post Road East. For more details, call 203-227-4137.
