WESTPORT — A Shelton man was charged with driving under the influence after driving through a stop sign near Hillspoint Road, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the the area of the Sherwood Island Connector around 2 a.m. Feb. 4 on a report of a vehicle operating erratically and crossing multiple lanes of travel. The vehicle traveled westbound on Greens Farms Road and then traveled through the intersection with Hillspoint Road without stopping for the stop sign, police said.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the operator identified as Luca Dore, 44, of Shelton. Dore appeared intoxicated and was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Besides the DUI charge, Dore was also issued a stop sign violation. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Feb. 14.
