The Westport Center for Senior Activities has announced the following events:

Monday, Oct. 28: The AARP safe driver's course will be at the center from noon to 4 p.m. The course covers trends and safety tips for to older drivers. Those who complete the course successfully receive a certificate that may qualify some drivers for reduced auto insurance premiums, center officials said. Cost is $12 for AARP members, $14 for nonmembers. Check must be payable to AARP.

Monday, Nov. 4: Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer the workshop "Bringing Joy to the Holidays During Difficult Times" from 1 to 2 p.m. The holidays can be a difficult time for someone who is under stress or has recently lost a loved one, center officials said. The workshop will feature strategies to bring comfort and joy to the season, center officials said.

Thursday, Nov. 7: A discussion about memory loss is planned from 10 to 11 a.m. Dawn Pelazza, a registered nurse and dementia educator will discuss normal kinds of memory loss and the types associated with Alzheimer's disease. She also will talk about living with someone with memory loss.

Thursday, Nov. 7: The movie "Identity Thief" will be shown at 3:15 p.m., followed at 5 p.m. by a supper of sandwich wraps, chips and beverages. The 2013 comedy stars Jason Bateman as a businessman whose identity is stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy), and his credit cards soon max out, so he sets out to capture the thief. Cost is $6.

Tuesday, Nov. 12: Norwalk Hospital personnel will present a seminar titled "Total Joint Replacement Surgery" from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The program will provide an overview of the hospital's Comprehensive Joint Replacement Center, including the types of surgeries performed, post-operative care and physical therapy.
