The Westport Center for Senior Activities has announced the following programs and activities:

Wednesday, Nov. 12: A free lecture on the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster is planned from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The center said historian Art Gottlieb will talk about the spilling of 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound after the tanker ship struck a reef. The oil slick covered 1,300 miles of coastline.

Wednesday, Nov. 12: A free lecture on ways to boost fiber in diets is planned from 11 to 11:30 a.m. The center said dietitian Yoshi Mori will discuss the importance of fiber, recommended daily amounts, health benefits and foods that provide the most fiber.

Saturday, Nov. 15: A Saturday Social is planned from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., featuring a Middle Eastern-themed lunch and a performance by a belly dancer, the center said. The menu includes apricot glazed chicken with feta cheese, stewed eggplant and tomato, orzo with raisins and almonds, and baklava. Lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30, and the entertainment will be from 1:30 to 2:30. The cost is $8, and advance registration and payment are required.
