Candidates for Board of Education in the Nov. 5 town election will discuss school issues during a forum Thursday, Oct. 24, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. in the Westport Library's McManus Room.

The free forum is sponsored by the Westport PTA Council.

In a news release, the PTA council said all five school board candidates on the ballot had agreed to attend. They include Democrats Brett Aronow and Elaine Whitney and Republicans Karen Kleine, Michael McGovern and Jeannie Smith.

The format calls for each candidate to make a one-minute opening statement. Candidates then will be asked questions submitted by PTA members and by some audience members. All candidates will have an opportunity to respond to each question.

If time allows, candidates will be allowed to make one-minute closing statements.

Dianne Wildman, a Westport resident and former commentator for Cablevision, will be the moderator.
