An SUV crashed into a utility pole on Bayberry Lane Monday night, snapping off the pole and bringing down power lines that caused electric outages in the immediate area.
The driver of the 2008 Buick SUV, the only occupant of the vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The accident took place about 6:50 p.m. Monday, according to the police report, when the SUV traveling north on Bayberry Lane left the road and struck a utility pole. The impact of the crash snapped off the upper section of the pole, causing power lines to fall across both lanes of the street.
The driver was treated at the scene by Westport EMS personnel and then transported to Norwalk Hospital for additional treatment, police said.
Connecticut Light & Power crews shut off power in the area while the accident scene was cleared.
The accident is being investigated by police.
