The patching project is now complete.

All southbound lanes are open across the Yankee Doodle Bridge.

NORWALK - The center lane of southbound I-95 is closed on the Yankee Doodle Bridge.

The state Department of Transportation said it needed to do some “emergency” construction work on the bridge.

Kevin Nursick, DOT spokesman, said the work involves patching on the deck of the bridge.

He did not have a timeframe on when the work would end.

The work is causing more than 4 miles of congestion.

At 11:30 a.m., it was taking 43 minutes to drive 14 miles from Bridgeport to Norwalk.

The center lane is closed between Exits16 and 15.

DOT gave no estimate on when the center lane will reopen.
