Fellow Westporter Daniel Landy snapped Luke McCambley’s six-race winning streak in the Road Runners series by claiming the eighth event — an 8.4 mile run starting at Burying Hill Beach last Saturday. Landy won with a time of 51:00 ahead of 118 ther runners. The course record was set in 1980 — 42:51 set by Bob Hensley, of Milford. For the third straight week the first woman to finish was Cate Allen, of Fairfield, in sixth place overall with the time of 55:02. Allen’s time was also short of the women’s course record of 49:12 set by Cindy Mironvich, of Darien in 1984.

Second and third places in the men’s division in last Saturday’s race were awarded to McCambley and James Osborn, of Ridgefield, with respective times of 51:01 and 52:28. Second and third places in the women’s division were awarded to Kristen Curran, of Southport, in 10th place and Liz Herbert, of Darien, in 15th place with respective times of 57:18 and 58:32. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top ten were Tom Harding, fifth in 53:14, and Paul Greenberg, seventh in 55:50.

The next scheduled Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 8 a.m. with a 9.3 mile run starting at Compo Beach.
