Retired Judge Alan Nevas of Westport will discuss some of the most interesting cases he presided over when he addresses the Y's Women at 11 a.m. Monday in the Unitarian Church.

A question-and-answer session will follow Nevas' presentation. The meeting is for members only, and Ann Lloyd, membership chairman, will be available to sign up new ones.

Nevas was appointed to the U.S. District Court for Connecticut by President Ronald Reagan in 1985; he retired in 2009.

During his tenure on the bench, he presided over a wide range of civil cases, both jury and non-jury, as well as numerous criminal trials involving white-collar offenses, organized crime, public corruption and large-scale drug distribution rings. He serves as an arbitrator and mediator in a broad range of commercial disputes, while also counseling clients on complex litigation and pre-litigation strategy issues.

His wife, Janet, is a member of the Y's Women.
