A low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to noon. The clinic will be held at the Westport Weston Health District, 180 Bayberry Lane.

Connecticut law requires rabies vaccinations for all dogs and cats three months of age or older. Representatives from the town clerks' offices of Westport and Weston will also be available to process dog licenses for residents from those towns. There is no residency requirement for vaccination.

The cost of the vaccination is $20 per animal, cash only. Licenses for neutered or spayed dogs is $8, and $19 for non-neutered or non-spayed dogs. All dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

Written proof, either a valid rabies certificate or dog license showing a prior vaccination, must be presented to qualify for a three-year vaccination. Otherwise a one-year vaccination will be given. Collar tags and certificates of vaccination will be provided. Pet owners should bring the animal's prior vaccination records, if available. Pet owners who are on public assistance are permitted to have one pet vaccinated at no charge by showing their State Public Assistance Identification Card.
